JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION HOURS: 30 Per Week
START DATE: 2026–2027 school year
COMPENSATION: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience

North Lakes Academy (NLA) is a K–12 charter school located in Forest Lake, Minnesota, approximately 25 miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. NLA serves approximately 425 students in grades K–12 within a unified school community.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
North Lakes Academy is seeking a dependable, organized, and service-oriented Food Service Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of the school's food service program. This position plays an important role in ensuring students and staff have access to nutritious, appealing, and safely prepared meals in a clean and welcoming environment.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a school setting. The Food Service Coordinator will work closely with school staff, food service personnel, vendors, and students to help ensure the food service program operates efficiently and meets applicable health and safety requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Coordinate the daily operations of the school's food service program
● Assist with planning and organizing daily breakfast and lunch meal service
● Ensure meals are prepared, served, and stored according to food safety and sanitation requirements
● Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen, serving, and dining area
● Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering and receiving food and supplies
● Maintain accurate records related to meal counts, inventory, food temperatures, and other food service requirements
● Follow USDA, Minnesota Department of Education, and applicable health and safety guidelines
● Communicate with food service vendors and school staff regarding deliveries, menus, supplies, and service needs
● Help accommodate student dietary needs and food allergies in accordance with school procedures
● Supervise and provide direction to food service staff as needed
● Assist with training staff on food safety, sanitation, and food service procedures
● Provide friendly and respectful service to students and staff
● Address food service concerns or issues promptly and communicate with administration as needed
● Assist with special events and school activities requiring food service support
● Perform other duties related to the food service program as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
● High school diploma or equivalent required
● Previous food service, school nutrition, kitchen, or supervisory experience preferred
● Food safety certification or willingness to obtain required certification
● Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices
● Strong organizational and time-management skills
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Ability to maintain accurate records and manage inventory
● Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, and vendors
● Commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for students
