Helping Students Grow with Confidence
At North Lakes Academy, our Middle School program serves students in grades 6–8 through a supportive, engaging learning environment that prepares them for high school and beyond. Small class sizes, caring teachers, strong academics, and meaningful opportunities help students build confidence, independence, and a growing sense of responsibility.
Academics
North Lakes Academy Middle School provides personalized instruction with a strong focus on core academic subjects. Hands-on lessons and collaborative learning experiences encourage students to think critically, solve problems, and take greater ownership of their education.
Because teachers know their students as individuals, they can recognize strengths, identify challenges, and provide the support each learner needs to succeed. This close attention helps students develop the academic habits and skills required for a smooth transition into high school.
Character Development Through Becoming
Middle school students participate in the Becoming curriculum, which focuses on essential soft skills and the Top 20 Character Traits. Through reflection, discussion, and real-life application, students learn to strengthen qualities such as responsibility, resilience, respect, self-awareness, and leadership.
The Becoming curriculum supports the development of the whole child by helping students understand themselves, build healthy relationships, and make thoughtful choices. These skills prepare students to navigate both academic challenges and everyday life with greater confidence.
Experiential Learning at Osprey Wilds
Students extend their learning beyond the classroom through an overnight environmental field trip to Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center. This experience combines hands-on environmental education with teamwork, problem-solving, outdoor exploration, and opportunities for personal growth.
The trip allows students to connect classroom concepts to the natural world while building stronger relationships with classmates and teachers. For many students, it becomes a memorable and meaningful part of their Middle School experience.
Student Experience
North Lakes Academy offers a safe, welcoming school community where every student is known and encouraged to belong. The close-knit culture helps middle school students form strong connections with teachers, staff, and classmates during an important period of personal and academic development.
Students are given opportunities to build confidence, practice independence, and develop leadership skills as they progress through grades 6–8. Increasing expectations and responsibility help prepare them for the academic and social transition into high school.
Activities & Athletics
Middle school students can participate in a variety of clubs, athletics, fine arts, leadership opportunities, and service activities. These experiences give students the freedom to explore new interests, develop talents, build friendships, and become more involved in their school community.
Athletic programs emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and school pride. Because North Lakes Academy is a smaller school, students often have greater opportunities to participate, contribute, and take on meaningful leadership roles.
Why Families Choose North Lakes Academy
Families choose North Lakes Academy for its caring teachers, small-school environment, and culture of respect, belonging, and high expectations. Students receive personalized support and meaningful opportunities to participate and lead rather than feeling overlooked within a larger school setting.
As one unified school serving Kindergarten through grade 12, North Lakes Academy creates continuity for students and convenience for families with children in different grade levels. This K–12 community helps students build lasting relationships while growing academically, socially, and personally throughout their educational journey.
