JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION STATUS: Full-time 

START DATE:  2024-2025 school year

COMPENSATION: $17.85-$20.40 per hour based on experience.
BENEFITS: Health Insurance, Dental Coverage, Paid Time Off (PTO), TRA or

ABOUT NORTH LAKES ACADEMY:

Serving the Forest Lake and surrounding areas since 1999, North Lakes Academy provides a personalized learning environment designed to meet a wide variety of academic needs. With strong core subjects and a full complement of liberal arts courses, NLA provides quality learning in a responsive learning atmosphere. Currently, we operate an elementary campus (grades K-6) and a secondary campus (grades 7-12) both in Forest Lake, serving a total of 460 students. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or GED 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to follow teacher instructions and support classroom activities

  • Basic knowledge of educational principles and child development

  • Ability to assist with classroom management and student supervision

  • Patience, adaptability, and a supportive attitude

  • Ability to pass a background check and meet school district/state requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, depending on the position and experience. They may also need to be able to bend, twist, and lift frequently

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting

  • Experience supporting students with disabilities and/or behavioral challenges

  • Training in behavior management strategies or de-escalation techniques

  • Familiarity with individualized education programs (IEPs) and 504 plans

  • Ability to adapt instructional support based on student needs

  • Experience with classroom technology and educational software

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Paraprofessionals play a vital role in supporting both general education teachers and special education case managers by assisting with instructional activities, classroom management, and student engagement. They provide individualized support to students receiving special education services, helping to implement personalized learning plans, accommodations, and behavioral strategies.
