
K-6 Long Term Substitute Reading Interventionist
JOB DESCRIPTION
North Lakes Academy is seeking a qualified long-term reading intervention teacher with an approximate start date of October 25, 2025, for a twelve-week coverage
POSITION STATUS: Full-time
START DATE: Oct 25, 2025
COMPENSATION: Daily rate range of $25 to $35/hour
North Lakes Academy (NLA) is a K-12 charter school located in Forest Lake, Minnesota, a community about 25 miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. NLA operates an elementary campus (grades K-6) and a secondary campus (grades 7-12) and serves 425 students. At all grade levels, NLA’s key priorities are providing a small & safe community, building confidence & curiosity, and connecting learning & the environment. One way that we realize these priorities is by fostering the emotional intelligence of our students and building strong relationships between families, staff, and students.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with district and state standards.

Provide small group and/or one-on-one reading intervention using evidence-based practices.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to align intervention with classroom instruction.

Monitor and document student progress using data and assessment tools.

Use various teaching methods, such as hands-on activities, group work, and multimedia tools to enhance learning while providing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Establish a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment.

Address behavioral issues in a fair and constructive manner, using PBIS when appropriate.

Regularly assess student progress through formal and informal assessments (e.g., quizzes, tests, projects, observations).

Provide regular feedback to students and their families about academic performance and areas of improvement.

Work collaboratively with other teachers, school staff, and administration to support student learning.

Participate in grade-level meetings, professional development opportunities, and staff meetings.

Maintain an open line of communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field.

Valid teaching certification for the state of Minnesota.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous teaching experience at the elementary level.
-
Reading endorsement.
-
Experience with multi-tiered systems and supports (MTSS).
