K-12 Librarian
JOB DESCRIPTION

Hourly Salary Range: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Contract Days: 10 hours per week from November 1, 2025- June 30, 2026, Flexible Schedule

 

Job Description: This role involves maintaining library resources, fully implementing the cataloging/check-out system, supporting students and staff in locating and using information effectively, and integrating technology to enhance learning.

 

Evaluation

This position is evaluated by the Principals.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Library Management

    1. Organize and maintain the school’s library collection (physical and digital).

    2. Catalog, classify, and process new library materials.

    3. Implement library policies and procedures.

    4. Maintain an inviting, safe, and accessible library environment.

  2. Instructional Support

    1. Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and integrate information literacy.

    2. Partner with staff to teach students how to locate, evaluate, and use information resources.

    3. Conduct library orientation sessions and reading programs for students.

  3. Reading Promotion

    1. Encourage a reading culture by organizing book fairs, reading challenges, author visits, and literary events.

    2. Recommend age-appropriate books and resources to students and staff.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Valid MN Librarian license

  • Experience working with children or in a school setting.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a librarian

Working Conditions

  • School-based environment.

  • May require lifting and shelving books, using ladders, and managing groups of students.
