JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION STATUS: Full-time

START DATE: 2026–2027 school year
COMPENSATION: $40,800 – $60,626.65, based on experience

ABOUT NORTH LAKES ACADEMY:

North Lakes Academy (NLA) is a K–12 charter school located in Forest Lake, Minnesota, approximately 25 miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. NLA serves about 425 students across an elementary campus (grades K–6) and a secondary campus (grades 7–12).

At all grade levels, NLA embraces small class sizes, personalized learning, and a diverse liberal arts education while fostering emotional intelligence and strong relationships between students, families, and staff.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

North Lakes Academy is seeking a qualified 5th Grade Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This position is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and student success.

The ideal candidate is passionate about elementary education and committed to delivering high-quality instruction aligned with state and district standards while supporting the whole child.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with district and state standards

  • Use hands-on activities, group work, and multimedia tools to enhance learning

  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

  • Establish a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment

  • Address behavioral concerns using fair, constructive, and restorative practices

  • Assess student progress using formal and informal assessments

  • Provide regular feedback to students and families

  • Collaborate with staff and participate in meetings and professional development

  • Attend school events, field trips, and supervise students as needed

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license

  • Strong understanding of child development and instructional best practices

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Previous elementary teaching experience preferred

  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered learning
