POSITION STATUS: Full-Time


START DATE: August 18, 2026


COMPENSATION: $41,400–$69,700 based on experience

North Lakes Academy (NLA) is a K–12 charter school located in Forest Lake, Minnesota, approximately 25 miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. NLA serves approximately 425 students in grades K–12 within a unified school community.
 

At all grade levels, NLA embraces small class sizes, personalized learning, and a diverse liberal arts education while fostering emotional intelligence and strong relationships between students, families, and staff.
 

JOB DESCRIPTION:
North Lakes Academy is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dependable Kindergarten Teacher beginning August 18, 2026. This position offers the unique opportunity to lead a small kindergarten classroom of only eight students, allowing for individualized instruction, meaningful relationships, and a highly supportive learning environment.
 

With a class size of just eight students, the Kindergarten Teacher will have the opportunity to truly know each child, provide personalized support, and create a strong foundation for academic, social, and emotional growth. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a positive, engaging, and nurturing classroom where every student feels valued and supported.
 

The Kindergarten Teacher will provide high-quality instruction, establish strong classroom routines, collaborate with families and staff, and help each student reach their full potential in a close-knit school community.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and deliver engaging kindergarten instruction aligned with classroom curriculum and Minnesota state standards

  • Create and maintain a positive, structured, and welcoming classroom environment

  • Provide individualized instruction and support to meet the needs of each kindergarten student

  • Foster students’ academic, social, and emotional development

  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs

  • Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback

  • Communicate effectively with families and school staff

  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school meetings as needed

  • Supervise students throughout the school day, including arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties

  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom where every child feels supported and valued

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in elementary education or early childhood education preferred

  • Previous kindergarten or elementary teaching experience preferred

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff

  • Commitment to providing a high-quality, student-centered learning experience
