7-12 Library Assistant
Job Description
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 4 to 6 hours per day
Start Date: September 3, 2024
Pay: $18.36/hour
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Life and Paid Time Off if .65 FTE or higher
Required Qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent.

Must possess and display excellent human relations skills when dealing with staff, students, and community.

Ability to get along with other people and have patience in dealing with parents and students.

Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing.

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
-
Ability to operate computers and related equipment.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of applicable district requirements and Board of Education policies.​

Library Assistant Responsibilities:
-
Assist students to locate and obtain information, materials and equipment from the library or online resources; assist students in research and study activities. Make recommendations on appropriate materials and resources. Assist students with library skills; instruct students in the use of equipment.

Assist students in selecting, using, and returning materials; maintain a clean, well organized and orderly library.

Develop and operate a basic system to check-out, return, overdue materials.

Maintain and add to the library collection. Inventory existing books, computer software, and audio/visual materials; shelve new materials and books. Share inventory list with staff and students.

Supervise student behavior in the library and halls; check student passes; issue appropriate consequences for misbehavior.

Other duties as necessary or assigned.
