Fundraising
Information regarding various fundraising opportunities targeted for specific school goals will be posted here throughout the school year.
The following policy guidelines is an excerpt from the Student Handbook.
North Lakes Academy Fundraising Policy
The school director and/or development coordinator must approve fundraising activities at North Lakes Academy that involve student participation. No fundraising project shall be undertaken without such approval. All monies must be channeled through the business office. Approved fundraisers are tax exempt; North Lakes Academy is a 501(c)(3) organization. Students are not permitted to sell items on campus for other organizations, or for personal profit.
All fundraising projects for North Lakes Academy must be designated for a particular purpose prior to approval of the project. For example, a fundraiser for the sixth-grade environmental camp or the eighth-grade Washington, D.C., tour, needs to be appropriately identified. All -school participation in a fundraiser indicates that monies brought in will be used for the benefit of all grade levels unless a disclaimer is made at the outset of the project (e.g., if a sixth-grader sells candy bars for the eighth-grade D.C. tour, it should be made clear where the profits will be going before sales are made).
When donations are to be sought from area businesses, it is important that the school director or development coordinator approve those plans. The frequency with which businesses in this community get approached for donations makes it imperative that North Lakes Academy asks for the right things at the right time. NLA wants to build and maintain a good working relationship with area businesses and organizations, and frequent or small requests might not be appropriate (i.e., some organizations might be pleased to assist NLA with a sizable project if they aren't also asked to contribute prizes and smaller items). Processing all such requests through appropriate channels will help NLA secure funding for needs at every level.
