It is our goal at North Lakes Academy to provide a safe learning environment for all students. As there are students children attending our school who suffer a life threatening allergy to peanuts and tree-nuts, NLA is a peanut and tree-nut Allergy Aware School.
As such, several precautions are factored into our daily routine. We continue to provide our students a nut-free environments, we have implemented a school-wide program to educate our students about food allergies, and we take specific safety precautions to protect individual students. Additionally, the staff is trained to take steps necessary should a child have a reaction.
With all of this in mind, we need to ask for your help as parents to keep all of our students safe.
- In grades 5-6, parents are asked to voluntarily refrain from sending food items containing peanuts or other tree-nuts to school.
- Please do not send items for snack time containing peanuts, peanut products, almonds, cashews, walnuts or other tree-nuts to school. This includes individual snack items, shared snack items, and birthday treats.
- We ask that you voluntarily refrain from sending items in your student’s lunch that contain peanut or tree-nut products to prevent reactions from shared foods.
- A list of compliant food options from SafeSnack.com is provided on our website.
