Debate Team

Debate is an intellectual sport that hones students' public speaking skills, improves his or her writing and editing abilities, and matures college-level critical thinking skills. The season runs from late September to early December.

Debaters participate in three formats of debate: Public Forum, Congressional, and Lincoln-Douglas. In Public Forum, a team of two people partake in a structured debate. Congressional is a type of mock-Congress, where representatives propose arguments on bills in a constructive and professional way. Lincoln-Douglas is similar to Public Forum, except that debate is individual and there is more speaking time. This type of debate is typically reserved for experienced debaters.

Debate is for you.
